In the Spanish-speaking countries of the Caribbean, Central and South America, a girl's passage from childhood to maturity at the age of 15 is celebrated as a Quinceañera. Often the girls are dressed up (sometimes in rented dresses) and driven around towns in a carriage or an open car.
